In a major assault to public health laws at the state level, H.R. 4167 -- the so-called "National Uniformity for Food Act of 2005" -- would abolish some 200 state food-safety laws that provide important protections and warn the public about dangers to the food supply, including carcinogenic and toxic substances in food.
Over the last 5 years, we have seen Congressional Leadership and the White House work closely with big industry lobbyists to attack the laws that protect our environment and public health. H.R. 4167 is just the latest in an ongoing pattern of pro-industry, anti-consumer activities.
Take action now! Tell your Representative to vote against this dangerous legislation.
