As your constituent, and as a supporter of the League of Conservation Voters, I'm writing to urge you to vote yes on the Markey (D-MA)-Platts (R-PA) fuel efficiency amendment and the Tom Udall (D-NM)-Platts (R-PA) renewable electricity amendments.

These are critical amendments that provide answers to some of our nation's most serious problems -- they reduce our addiction to fossil fuels, cut global warming pollution, and save consumers billions of dollars every year.

Strengthening our fuel economy only makes common sense. The technology exists now to make our cars and trucks go further on a gallon of gas without compromising safety. The benefits - to our security, our environment, and our economy - would be enormous.

Increasing our use of renewable electricity is another common sense measure that would enable us to rely more on clean energy from the sun, wind, and crops.  Doing so would create thousands of new agricultural jobs and provide economic benefits to rural economies.

I urge you to vote yes on these critically important amendments to the House energy bill.
