Subject: Ask the candidates tough questions on global warming

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

In the next few days, you will moderate a critical debate. This may be the last debate before the nominees in both parties are decided. Unfortunately, to date you have largely ignored the issue of global warming in the presidential election.

I demand that you make a point of asking all the candidates these three simple questions:

- Given the urgency of global warming, will you commit to take action on the issue in your first 100 days in office? If yes, what would you specifically do? - Will you push a mandatory cap on emissions that achieves at least a 20 percent reduction by the end of next decade? - Will you call a major international summit on global warming in your first 60 days and work to sign a new international treaty by the end of your first year?

The American public deserves to know where all the candidates stand on the climate crisis and the solutions they propose to address it.

Asking those questions is your responsibility. I call on you to do it.

Sincerely,
